Finally, it’s the end…

January 2, 2009

Throughout this graduation project, we laughed, we quarreled, we headached, we yelled, we worked hard and we enjoyed! We have finally produced what we scripted in October, from a blank mind to simple scripts and to this great work. Communication plays an important role during our production process. For example, we had to communicate with our actors about the shooting method and the acting skill; we had to communicate with department heads and shops owners for shooting location reservation; we had to communicate among ourselves internally for coherence.

Until now, I still remembered the days that we stayed in McDonald’s overnight for jotting the story plots; the nights that we ate takeaway food in editing room; the moments that we frowned our eyebrows and sighed when approaching difficulties. Today, I am glad to say all these are worth to do because our ‘DECADE’ was successfully produced though there’s still room to improve.

Since we are in a small group, we found out we would not have too much disagreements and we could manage our time evenly. Although a little bit harder than we thought previously, five of us were at pains to strive for our ideal video through these three months!

Here, I would like to give my sincere gratitude to those who had helped us before, especially my dearest group members. They endured Eva and my absence for doing Hugo’s final project before screening days.

>Thanks Karen that she edited the scenes well enough to fit different rhythm of the songs and she shot many rack focus which is her favorite.

>Thanks Erica that she scripted those touching dialogues to make our story romantic and she shot various angles with different locations. This gave us many scopes to choose for our story.

>Thanks Eva that she thought the statue scene and bears my grumbles all the time. Her comments are often to the point.

>Thanks Timothy that he represented us to discuss the PR matters with other groups and cooperated with us when we wanted to.

>Thanks Prof. Hodges for giving us unlimited space to decide our video topic and teaching us the vanishing point, the chroma key and the gradient picture. Without these, our ‘DECADE’ would be eclipsed a lot. His comments helped us a lot in trimming our cumbersome scenes.

>Thanks Mr. Eliot for helping us warmly whenever we had technical problems during his busy time. Although he sometimes is a little bit verbose, I know his true words are good for us on the major premise.

>Thanks our three main actors for sacrificing their valuable time for our shooting after their study and work, especially my little brother that I didn’t believe he would really promise me to be the main actor because I thought he was playful at the beginning.

>Thanks Prof. Tan that he played the professor role which made our story more vivid.

>Thanks Ms. Jenny for helping us to reserve the Umac venues for shooting: cultural center and the piano room.

> Thanks Terry who accepted our sudden request for singing our theme song.

>Thanks Gary, Seriena and her friend who helped us to be the students.

>Thanks Mr. Casber for giving us comments and asking questions about the high-tech 2018.

>Thanks Umac for giving us chance to use the professional HD camera.

>And lastly, thanks those who have enjoyed and supported our ‘DECADE’! THANKS ALL!!

Miranda’s Happy Production- Reflection

December 29, 2008

This gateway production finally ended on the 16th December. The week before screening was the hardest time i’ve ever gone though in my life, editing non-stop in the editing room…….what i really wanted was to take rest, but time didn’t allow me. depression……..

escaped most of the lessons at school for ediing and shooting, not sleeping for nights, editing with 39 degrees fever for the whole day, coughing , sneezing and crying while editing everyday, finally Endless Love is produced!

Sometimes , when facing the computer, thoughts would come out from my mind……..

” why do i have to work so hard for this? why were we forced to be seperated into two teams, why don’t they concern about our production, why did our main charactor quit, why is time running so fast, why the computer is so slow…….”

but on the other side, i would ask myself to enjoy this process, even though the production has so many difficulties, so hard to start, so hard to process and so hard to end, i still enjoy this process because i have my ture friends whom really understand what i wanted! Thank you so much for those who support us….thanks a lot!

Every part of this movie is done with our hearts, i really love this movie!i ‘m so happy to have such good music which suits the scences of the movie so much!! i know we are not professionals, but i’m already very very happy to have this! i am so glad and proud to have candy to be tthe camera person, because every single shots she uses her heart to shoots, she tried very hard to choose the best angle to shot!

The locations suits our story and scences perfectly, with nice background, atmostphere and lighting! we spent a long time to descide where to shoot. especially the last candle scene, we’ve tried many places but failed to light up candles. luckily we found that apartment.

On those screening days, i heard many people saying Endless Love is very romantic, very touching!  I was so happy to hear that!

Dr. Wu Mei came to me and said our movie is a piece of ART! she said every shots were  so beautiful ! She also said most of our scenes are shot at night, which is a very difficult time to shot, but we did a great job in lighting! many of my friends also sent me message after watcing the movie to appreciate the movie!

Thank you Pro Hodges ‘s support, thank you for praising our angel and lighting! your words gave us energy!!

Now i know i can make it! even though it was so hard! i also realized even it was so hard to finish this movie after the separtion of the teams, but i can have a movie of our own!

At last, thx for all those who helped us, supported us and those who finally realize having a beautiful shot is important.

Miranda’s Happy Producton- New Start

December 6, 2008

we didnt have the chance for shooting for a month already……..time is running……

we finally can start shooting again!!!

the story is changed , of coz not as good as the one before, but we will still try our best to finish it!!!

these weeks were really too hard for me to go though, but luckily i had my frds….my really ture frds to support me!!thx so much!!!! i will ignore those heartless response.

no matter how would the outcome be, i would enjoy this process!

Editing in progress

December 2, 2008

Recently, we stayed in our communication laboratory for editing these nights. We tried to link our different scenes together as we had shot our scenes intermittently. Sometimes we found out that the actors’ clothing of one scene was not consistent with the next scene. If we had planned well before shooting, this problem should not happen. But anyway, we tried to fix it now.

There’s only 2 weeks to go before our screening and we all are very excited about it. The brochure is still in discussion progress but the stand banner will be posted in Jubilee Building around on 8th or 9th. We hope we can all well settled them before our big day!

Edited by Miranda, Candy and Fanny
It took us a realy long time to edit it, I really love the music !!

Shooting sites reservation

November 19, 2008

We have difficulties in booking a room at the Macao Cultural Center although we have sent Professor Hodges’ letter to the staffs there. Their reply is there is no available time for us to shoot because their schedule is full. So now we are thinking about shooting at another place.

We have posted our individual and group posters in Jubilee building classrooms and campus notice boards respectively these two days. Individual poster costs $2.1 each and group poster costs $12 each plus a freight of $30. The posters will be sticked the boards up to 18th December.

Time passes like an arrow! There are only 3 weeks to go for our screening. We hope we can stay at the editing room much longer at night because the HD editing really takes time no matter in loading or rendering.
